Main street. was given a linen shower,

liam H. Illaymond, Jr., in Woodbury
evened. The affair was a most pleas-
ing one in honor of'Miss Mathels' ap-
proaching marriage and Mrs. Raymond
proved a most'charming hostess.
The surprise of the evening came
when Miss Lillian 'Crawtord, of Flint,

be a bridemaid for Miss Mantels, walk.

ed her thanks most graciously. Dur-

Town ‘Board of Estimate and
Taxation Will Let the State
Bring Suit
The town board of estimate and tax-
ation held quite a session, last even-
ing. in the selectmen'e office in the
town hall building. in Wall street
Seven members Were present, which
number just constitutes a quorum.
A committee was appointed a few
days ago to examine the wiring in the
high school building. which had prev~
iously been reported as defective. The
committee substantiated this report in
work as being poor and cheap. The
clock system. which is so excellent
when in working order, and the tele.
phone system, which is also all right
when working. are both out of com
mission more often than otherwise. At
present and for some time past the
clocks in the school have not been
running. The wiring is inside the
walls and dlillcuit to repair. it is
