SOUTH NORWALK'B GROWTH.

Before the judiciary committee at
Hartford. yesterday. Attorney George
H. ,Vosburgh, in presenting‘the claims
of William F. Tammany for the judge
ship of the Towu Court of Norwalk.
gave some figures bearing on the
growth of South Norwalk. both as to
population and court business, which
should be of vital Interest to every cit-
izon.

In the matter of population it was
shown that in tililti the population of
Norwnili was 5.308. against 6.954 in
1910. a gain of 1.646. South Norwnlk's
population in 1880 was 3.726. and in
1910. 8,363, a gain of 5,242.

The business of the town court dur-
ing 1910 shows that there were before
the court in South Norwsik 291 crim-
inal cases. while in Norwalk there
were 139 cases. a different of 152. or
more than two to one, in favor of
South Norwaik.

The receipts of the court from Non
walk for the past four years have av.
erased H.360. and from South Nor-
wsiit 82.267.

Is any further argument needed why
tho'judgo should be from South Nor-
walk, where the greater part of the
business of the Town Court is tran~
cooled?

The above figures should furnish
food for reflection to those who are
considering the preparation of a new
annexation charter. especially in re-
spect to the representation each com-
munity will have in the proposed on-
larged South Norwalk.

The Norwalk Pinocltle Club met
last night with Miss Alice Lyon. of
Knight street. The usual games were
played and prizes awarded and refresh
ments served. The next meeting will
