The Fairneld county representatives
who stood strongly for progressive le-
gislation are generally reelected.
French, of Trumbull. Peck, of Strat-
ford. Williamson. of Barton, Provost
of New Canaan and Johnson. of Nim-
town are all returned. despite the set
of the tide against their party:

It was Norwalk that killed Sheriff
Hawley. Vollmcr’s town handed him

years ago. This represents a change
of 1,900 votes and Hawley loses by
1,400.

The indications are that Fairlield
county was less elected by the move—
ment against the Republicans than al-
most any other county, bad as it is.

lorlty for Hill and is close on the gov-
ernor. with majority for the rest of
the state ticket.
