means committee of congress and had

Payne tariff. so called. lie does not
disguise the fact that the tariff is not
all that he would have bad it, but Just
what it is and its influence on the cost
of living he demonstrates clearly and
the position which Mr. Hill takes on
the whole matter is in line with that
of President Taft. although it was tail-
on and announced before the president
had declared himself in favor of fur-
ther revision by means of the tariff
commission.
Mr. Hill's whole speech was greeted
with enthusiastic approval and the
voters of this congressional district
will realise more than over before that
in Mr. Hill they have a man equal
to the demands of any position that he
may occupy in the government, one
free from all "eniangling alliances"
and with the courage of his ilriu con-
