droadcd disease of typhoid fever.
There are a great many case that have
been reporld and probably as many
that have not. it is quite usual at. this
time of yam- for the disease to crop
out in this slate and Nora-elk surely
seems to be girliluu her share of the
epidemic. The authorities are doing
all in their power to prevent a spread
of the disease.

New York Trouble Extends to a Fac-
tory in New Canaan.
There was some little excitement in
New Canaan. yesterday morning, when
a number of the strikers of the New
York cloak and soft trade came to that
place and attempted to prevail upon
the strike breakers who are running a
shop in that place to give up their
work. All of the police and the con-
stables of the borough were called to
dIive the trouble makers away and
they (the strikers) Were led to the
station and told that if they did not
return to the city on the next train
that they would be arrested.
When the strike broke out among
the cloak and suit makers in New York
the National Cloak and Suit company
opened a shop in New Canaan in ordeI
to keep the business going. The fac-
tory was located in the Nichols Opera
House. and enIplnyed thirty or forty
non union hands. among them four de-
