be charged after Saturday. The gov.

for the past year over that of the year
previous is nearly a million dollars
partly due to the corporation tax col-
loction. The district of Connecticut

The great increase in receipts as

month of June. “86.57013. about half
of the entire list which amounted to
806,208.67, was paid on the 30th day of
June. Everyone liable to pay taxes
and penalties had delayed payment in
hopes that a decision from the su-
preme court would decide that the
tax was unconstitutional.
The corporation list contained about
6.000 names of corporations. of th‘h
about 1,500 showed a tax due the gov-
ernment. 0f the remainder. about
300 Were in liquidation.
The tax was paid promptly by
most corporations: those remaining
unpaid at the present writing will
have a further extension until July 10.
