OILING THE CAR TRACKS.

New Method at Applying it Meets
With Bundles.

The Connecticut Company is oiling
the car tracks in West avenue. They
have the traction engine on the job
and are forcing steam through the oil
barreii The work is progressing rap
idly and is doing no end of good. A
dry spell will now not cause so much
dust to cloud “the most beautliui ave
one in the state."

The oil. when put on out oi a can or

a cart. is thick. and does not soak in
to the ground ior some hours. The oil.
when applied in this manner. is warm
and thin and will soak immediately in
to the shrines or the road. its effect
is apparent at once and every one
should be thankiul that there is such
a‘ means oi laying the dust in West
avenue.
The oil that the City of Nor-walk
caused to be put on the avenue. does
apt keep the dust out oi sight. it has
soaked into the road bed and the
crushed stone which has become so
much dust now together with the dust
blown iron the trolley tracks. is
spread over the suriace oi the avenue.
The road is excellent. but the dust is
not settled.

The railroad commissioners held
hearings on three petitions oi the New
York. New Haven and Hartford Rail-
road Company. Monday On account
