today discovered submerged in a lake
near the village of Moltraaio. a trunk
which when towed ashore and opened,
was found to contain the body of a
woman believed by the police to he an
American.
' Wounds on the head‘ which were
plainly made by blows indicated that
the woman had been murdered. Tire
body was wrapped in a piece of cloth

trunk also contained letters written in
English and the photograph of a young
woman evidently that of the victim.
