seems to be generally the question of
interest as related to indebtedness.
The returns authorize a deduction of
what has been paid for interest and
then call for a statement of the
amount of indebtedness t the time
of making out the return. lien inter.

A case in point is of one corpdratlon
which redoried 3200.000 of bonded in-
debtedness at i 172 per cent. and in

interest on the bonds must have been

cepted, as the Interest deducted was
excessive. in fact. the company had
borrowed hundreds of thousands of
dollars during the your and had paid

record was exactly as stated. Other
concerns which report no indebtedness
at all at the end of the year borrowed
and paid off during that period and
deducted.
It is believed that the misunder-
standings wil be smoothed out.
