Most of the advances granted since

centage increases. Some, however,

hour. and still others in the form of
so many dollars a month. Two of the
roads have simply announced the an-
nual total which the advances granted

railroad men is the second in a
period of four years. The last prtL
vlous raise came in 1906-1907. Soon
,aftcr. in the fall of 1907. came the

crease comes on the top of the one
four years ago.
To illustrate: An employee earning
8150 a month in l906. on a road where
a 10 per cent. advance was granted. re-
ceived $15 more under the higher
scale. A 7.per rent. advance this
year carrlld his pay to $176.55 a
‘ month. This represents a net. in-
crease of 71.7 pen cent. over what he
received in 1906.
