Captain George W. Bell. the popular

Charles LaCroix has been going
through a case oi "walking grip". Mr.
lnCrolx has been sick enough to "lay

held on and hopes to dispose of the

East Norwaikers could go out in their
back yards and chop down a Christmas
tree but. this is hardly practical now.

that it was so cold that a watchman in
putting out aviantern had to use a pick

This morning the stream of Christ-
mas shop era across the Washington
street br dge to the Christmas-tilled
stores or South Norwalk reminded of
the summer mornings when the steam-
‘er Huntington is making her semi»
weekly trips across the Sound. One
important difference, however, was
that the stream of people on the way
over the bridge were empty handed, as
against the numerous lunch boxes and
baskets in summer. but this was room
died on their return by the armfuls or
Christmas gifts.
William Gilbert, the curpenter,_ was
taken suddenly and seriously ill yester-
day while at work on the second floor
of the Hefner building on the Washing-
ton street bridge. Fortunately. he was
not at a point where he might have
had a tail in conjunction with his ill-
ness. He heeled over unconscious
and a hurried call was sent for physi-
cians. Dr. Robert M. Wolfe and Dr. F.
B. Baker responded and Mr. Gilbert
soon showed signs of improvement.
He was taken to his home and this
morning was. so much improved that
he was able to return to his work on
the new building.

velopment. it is certainly a matter
of interest to every one who thinks.
and a newspaper discussion. to any

columns is any indication of what
might follow. But these are Christ-
mas days. times of good cheer and
jubilant fellowship; times when we
should get together on the things in
which we can happily agree rather
than emphasize matters on which we
wisely or unwiscly differ. This is
the time of “Peace on earth. good will
to men." Let our tongues bc mlrth~

and every one of its “hand all around"
a peaceful brotherhood. Let our ears
hear the song in the air and our eyes
behold the star in the sky. Let us
