Fred Malkin, of Norwalk, is enjoy-
ing a four days vacation from his du-
ties in the store ol‘ F. D. Lawton in
Norwalk.
The Norwalk Fire Police held a reg-
ular monthly meeting last evening. at
which the reports of the various fair
committees were board. All cornmlt-
nicoly,
Pioneer Hook and Ladder Company
met in monthly session last evening
and voted not to turn out on Columbus
Day. The truck went to the, Mcrwin
street shirt factory for practice, and
refreshments were. served at the con-
clusion or the exercises.
The Phoenix Engine Company held
its regular meeting last evening. fol-
lowing the wash. The engine and hose
wagon went out and a line was laid
in school street. Water was used and
a good pressings is reported. Only rou-
tine business was transacted at the
meeting.
l-lope Hose Company held the regu-
ular monthly meeting and wash last
evening. The company's automobile
hose cart went. up to the New Canaan
road and Plattsville avenue. and laid
a line of hose. after which the machine
was fixed up by Driver (‘orcoran and
cleaned. At the meeting Samuel Eng-
lish was initiated and refreshments
were enjoyed. 'I‘hey consisted of col"-
ieotand sandwiches and were followed
by cigars and cigarettes.

lioth oi the cases arising from dim-
cultics between union and non-union
hattcrs during the past few days were
disposed of in the police court this
morning by Judge Joseph R. Taylor.
The first case taken up was that of
‘ pseph Tammany. Jr.. who~was charg-
wlth Intoxication and using abusive
language. the latter on James T. Par-
ker and other employee at the Croiut
& Knapp Company. On the first count,
the line was $5 and on the second 37.
Mr. Tammany pleaded guilty and in
consequence little testimony was re
quired.
The other case was that of Michael
Carmella, employed by the C. & K.
Company. who was charged with as-
saulting a union man. John Fitzglb‘
lions. The latter claimed that as he
was passing through Elizabeth street
Carmella cadre out of the. yard of a
boarding house and assaulted him
without provocation. There was con-
siderable testimony and the Judge was
convinced that this assault was not
justified. lie imposed a line of ill?»
and costs. .
Caravellu took and appeal to the No-
vember term of the criminal side or
the Common Pleas court. and Fletcher-
H. Montgomery. of the C. d: K. Com-
