universal today in their opinion that

ed. Every car that could possibly be
used, was put in operation and even
then there was not enough to ads-
quately accomllodnui all those who
traveled. There were at least two sne-
tious to all trhius, three to some and
won four to others.
The riding was incessant. From our-
ly morning until after midnight the
trains were crowded: there was no let
up. Usually on a holiday the traffic
becomes light during the afternoon.
Not so Monday. All afternoon trains
kept coming and going out With a
stream of passengers that was noth.
lug short of a Yale-Harvard football
day crowd.
For the. first time in the history of
the New Haven road. a baggage train
was run between Boston and New
York. Leaving the llub early In the.
evening. it pulled into the local sta-
tion at 2 o'clock. At 1:30 the following
morning it arrived In New York city.
This train was made up of five cars.
all of which were filled with the bag-
gage of patrons who had ridden earli-
er in the evening.
Baggage trains are run on the New
York Central and other big ronds more
or loss, but Monday night was the first
that the New Haven road over ran
one.
It is the consensus of opinion of the
cmyloyea at the station that the coin-
puny did more businesg during the
tour days—Friday. Saturday, Sunday
and Monday- than in any other four
consecutive days since its organiza
tion. Of these [our days. Sunday was
the lightest and Monday was the heav-
iest. Not until evening did the riding
become strong Sunday, but on the oth-
er1throe days, it was a continuous
affair.
