Honor of Miss Marguerite F°garty.

A whist party. in honor of Miss Mar-
guerite Fogarty, of Ridgefleld. was giv-
en at the home of Miss Edna Howard.
in Ellwood place. last night. The
rooms wore decorated with blue and
gold. the colors of Mount St. Joseph's
College. of Hartford. of which both
are students.

Music and whist were enjoyed by
the guests and at the conclusion of
the evening refreshments of ice cream
and cake were served and all had a
line time. Miss Marion Hayess favor-
ed with selections on the piano and all
joined in singing and the choruses.
Francis Ward managed to capture the
first prize, which was a, large rose with
a box of confections in the center.
Miss P‘ogarty'. who has been visiting in
Norwalk for only a short time, has
made many flfiands and it is with real
regret that they hear that she must
return to her home. Those present
were: The Misses Anna McMahon.
Nora Ward, Ethel Poet, Agatha Hayes
and Marion Hayes. Albert Rose, John
Tierney. Francis Ward and James
Tierney. i

Dies In Middletcwn.

MIDDLETOWN, Aug. 27.——Johu Du-
ane, one of the best known black-
smiths in this vicinity. died at his
home on Liberty street last night.
He was taken ill with a chill three
weeks ago and a week later hiccoughs
developed. The attack stopped this
morning, but he was in such a. w all
condition that he did not. rally. 2-!
came from Hartford about twenty
five years ago and had conducted a
blacksmith shop here ever since. He
leaves his wife a son John. Jr.. and
five daughters, Annie, Katherine. Hen-
rlctta, Bessie and Mary Duane. the
latter being a nurse in St. Francie'e
Hosplul. Hartford. The funeral will
be from his home on Liberty street
Saturday morning and at St. ‘John's
Church at 0 o'clock

Those most severely injured were

wore on the ground, Drs. Mason, White
and Girourard/ of Willimhntic. and
Dr. W. 1.. Higgins of South Coventry.
wore kept buy for some time.
