mittee provides a detailed statement
of the proposed increases. The at-
tltudo of the district committee was
the cause of quite a little warmth and
discussion at last. night’s meeting. The
district committee's estimate was 327.-

district estimates. it was also voted
to cut out entirely the estimate of
8320 for a teacher of physicalculture
ground that the regular teachers do
the work just as well as the special
teacher and that it is not f'air to have
physical culture taught unless it is
taught in all of the schools, it was
decided to out out the estimate for
music teaching in this district. in-
stead. lt was voted to request the
board of estimate and taxation to em-
ploy a music teacher for all of the
schools of the town. The South Nor-
walk school district is by far the
largest in the town. the daily average
attendance bain 1.379. with ( total
per capita co'ato W8 a year. This. by
the way, 'is the lowest in the town.

pal. The South Five Mile River dis-
trict committee wanted 850 more for
the principal, or from $1.050 to $1,100.

timate was the same as last year.

The coming summer season at Bell
island. the popular shore resort for
Danbury people, promises to be a busy
one, perhaps more so than for many
y.esrs A great deal of work is being
done about the island now. putting
grounds into shape and getting cot-
tages into condition for summer occu-
pancy.
The recent storms have done consid-
erable damage. especially about the .
water edge. A part of the Davis dock
was washed away in one of the storms,
and the walk to Rules Point was con-
siderably damaged by being cayered
with coarse gravel washed up on it by
the wind and water.
