There were two cases on the docket
this morning at the Norwaik Town
Court. The first case to come before
Judge E. M. Lockwood. was that of
yesterday afternoon, on complaint of

Mr. Nolan claimed that he was bus-
ily engaged in booing his garden, when
0' Halioran approached him with a
double-barreled sh tgun in his hand
and threatened to 0 Mr. Nolan harm.
Not being smelled with the answer
that Mr Nolan gave him, he picked up
a large stone and would have hurled
it at Mr. Nolan. had he not wrenched
it from him. After hearing the testi-
mony of both psi-,tles Judge Lockwood
reserved his decision until two weeks
from today; It is understood that the
parties concerned have not the best of
neighborly feeling and that trouble
has been brewing some time.
The next case called was that of
James and Stuart Barry, of Cranbury,
who were arrested by Constable Leath~
eriand and Officer Silk recently, charg-
ed with the theft of a magneto from
the iaunchof Henry Cornell, the Nor—
waik painter. and of taking glass sec-
tions from the greenhouses of Byxbee.
in court this morning Stuatt was
fined S25 and costs for the theft of
the magneto, and $7 and costs for be
ing implicated in the theft of the glass.
The father. James, was fined 87 and
coats for the theft of the glass.
Through their attorney. J. J. Cause.
the Messrs. Barry took an appeal. and‘
bonds were fixed by Judge Lockwood
for $150 for the theft of the magneto.
and $50 for being implicated in the

NEW YORK. April 17.—-—0n the
theory that the arrest of Bennie Adel-
son, in Pasadena. Cat, yesterday, may
have had something to do with the
crime. the police today are investigat-
ing the shooting of Billy O'Brien. a
welhknown East, Side character in
front of Steve Brodie's old saloon on
shot through the heart and died almost
instantly. The man who fired the fa-
tal shot escaped. lt was at first be-
lieved that the muider was the result
of a quarrel but when it was learned
that (7131:1011 was known to be a it-
ness to the shooting of Joe Rcil . in
Poll street. in 1905, in connection with
which Adelson was arrested yesterday
in Pasadena. the authorities turned
their attention to this phase of the
case. The news of Adelson's arrest
in California quickly became known
along the Bowery and O'Brien‘s pro-
bable appearance against Adelson. for
whom the police have been looking
for threl years, was freely talked
a dispute with a man and a woman in
struck the woman. When he left the
place some time afterwards he was
shot down, his assailant escaping
through an alley.
Four men were detained by the po-
lice today in connection with the kill-
ing of O'Brien. Three of them were
New Yorkers, picked up along the
Bowery. and the fourth gave his name
at Patrick Donovan. of Whitman, Mass.
,Donovan was arrested in Brooklyn
when he stepped up to a policeman and
asked if the man who had committed
the Bowery murder had been caught.
He told the police that he was near-
by when the fatal shot was fired and
saw the murderer run away.

thing of that sort, in connection with
the alleged assault- Attorney Candee
accompanied the girls to Stamford this
afternoon, to complete the settlement.
