April 10.-——Cipriano Castro. the former
resident of Venezuela. was informed
ofllclaliy today of the decision of the
French government to expel him from
Martinique. He at once declared to
the chief of police of Fort de France
that the state of his health was such
as to make it impossible f0r him to
leave his bed. The government there-
upon called In Dr. Bouvier, who will
. mane a report on the condition of

Ira at 8:30 a. in. today. It is couched

the official letter head of the Colonial
Government. and says:

has published a sensational article
criticizinsevcrciy the condition of
the Italian navy. it says that the
new warship Napoli cannotfimake more
than six knots an hour. and that the
Roma can do little better than this.
The paper alleges also that grave de-
fects have been discovered in the ma-
chinery in the new 10.000 ton cruiser.

“INGRAM, Maine. April log—Lying
exhausted on the snow-covered ground
after a flight of twelve miles through
the woods. Herbert Nottagc, who last
night fatally shot his wife Lucinda.
discharged his revolver Into his
mouth, when confronted by Constable
Robie Sands and a small posse early
today and inflicted a. wound which
caused his death within an hour.
Nottago quart-(Sled with his wife last
night and in the course of the dispute
is alleged to have shot her five times.
After the shooting Nottage fled, but
a posse was formed and pursued the
fugitive. With difficulty the pursuers
made their way through a blinding
snowstorm along the railroad tracks
to Solon. eight miles away. Four miles
further on Nottage was found exhaust-
ed. When aroused he asked for news
of his wife. llpon being told that shc
was still alive Nottagc drew his re-
volver and shot himself.
Nottage and his wife had been sop.
urnted for some time, and it. is believ-
ed that Mrs. Nottage's refusal to go
back to her husband precipitated the
quarrel.
Mrs. Nottage died during the day.
The woman had been married twice.
being divorced from her first husband.
She' leaves two children, one of which
was born during her first marriage.
Jealousy is said to have caused last
night's trouble.

pected to issue shortly. It is not yet
know whether the regiments will he
order to Manila for separate encamp-
ments, or whether the two regiments
will encamp together.
