ACCUSED OF THEFT.
Colored Oyster Opener Held on Charge
of Taking Watch‘a'nd Money.
Bennie Moore. a colored oyster open-
or, was arrested this mmning on a
charge of theft by Chief of Police Wil-
liam Vollmcr, the complainants being
Hiram Minkins and his wife. also col-
cred, of 9 Wood street, with whom
Moore has been boarding The Min-
kins charge Moore with taking a gold
filled watch a gold chain and a little
over $6 in money. Moore denies the
allegation.
The loos was discovered Saturday
night. and Moore claims there had
. been a number of other people about
the house besides him, and that he
is not guilty of the theft. He also ex—
plains a trip to New York he made
Saturday by stating that he goes there
two or three times a week because his
folks are there
The case will comebefore the police
court tomorrow morning. lionds were
