It is mighty interesting and wclctnne
1 news this morning that. Congressman
Hill is out as a candidate for the Uni-
' ted States senatorsliip. The Bridge-
port and Norwalk' papers make formal
announcement of the fact and wouldn't
do this unless they knew the situation.
Mr. Hill himself has been called to
Washington on his congressional du-
ties, but he has a host Of friends in
the state and no doubt from‘uow on
they will be busy.
1 Everybody who passes judgment 011
our representation at Washington sets
down Mr. Hill as its recognized leader.
'l'lis district has just reelected him
by a plurality of about 14,000, or
practically {.10 per cent. more than any
other congressman received and
nearly a third of 'l‘ai't‘s splendid vote

means committee on the matter of
tariff revision. There is no member
of that committee whose knowledge
