number. The board will consist~of
twelve members after the election,
three taken from each of the dom-
inant parties. it. is proposed to se-
lcct capable women for the position.
'lhis will only be a small appreciation
of the help the ladies of the town have
been in making ltnprovements, and
.will give them a voice in the conduct
of the schools in which they are so
much interested.
The Democrats are not the only ones
lwho were left at the post at the su-
nual town meeting. The emission of
the 40 names on the list of the Demo-
eratic registrar has created consider-
'ablo indignation, but the temperance
people of the town who had intended
to submit, the license question to the
voters, are more excited. A petition
with the required 20 names was sub-
mitted to llit‘ t-IeIIIrItmen, so that the
matter could be placed in the cell for
the town meeting. Unless the ques-
tion is in the call, it cannot he acted
