An important meeting or the direc-
tors of the New linen railroad will
be held in New York a week from next
Saturday. This will be the first meet-
ing since July, the August meeting.

The president. Charles S. Mellen who
is now at his summer home In Stock

One of the important matters to be
considered will-be the should state-
ment. This statement will bra-complet-
ed at this meeting, and will be con-
sldered at the annual directors' meet-
ing, to be, held in New Haven in Oc-
tober. The directors will complete
arrangements at their meeting for the
stockholders' meeting.
Another important matter to receive
attention will be financial reports,
which are expected to be encouraging.
Willie business has not resumed the
normal standard since the panic, the
trailic of the railroad has been more
encouraging since the last meeting or
the directors, The quarter ending Sept.
30 is the best of the year. and the
gain in that period serves to make an
adjustment for the lean quarters. The
statement that the business coating lo
the railroad ls requiring an increase
of freight curs shows that this branch
of the trafilc is increasing. The pas-
senger business for the quarter, based
on present business, will be a bumper,
lhus helping out the gross receipts in
a material manner. It is the general
opinion that when the financial report
is plegenied at the stockholders' meet
ing it will prove satisfactory to own

sideration the business depression of
