Charles B. Roberts, who was myster-
iously shot on the boardwalk last ch‘
nesday night, is still in the Atlantic
City Hospital and is very weak. The
bullet which penetrated the liver, it is
feared, caused a wound which may
prove fatal.
The police are firm in the belief that
the solution of the mystery surround-
ing the shooting will follow an invcs~
ligation of the movements of W. S. (1.
Williams on Tuesday and Wednesday

from a sanitarium, where he had been
for seven weeks. The allegation that

negro. said:

remark of the gentleman. i heard him

said that her eighteen years of mar-

wife's assertion. he called her up at
the Hotel Brighton and asked her to

fused. saying she preferred to remain
until Saturday.

liams has told us. I believe that it is
the truth; but I also believe that if
her husband came to Atlantic City
from Baltimore that day she was not
aware of it.h

violent condition was taken to a West-

masked men dynamited the safe in the
provincial bank~ut St. Zuatache. ten
miles from Montreal. and secured 812,-
000 early today. They held up the care-
taker and kept it poses of citizens at
bay with revolvers and made good
their escape to Montreal. Two arrests
have been made on suspicion.
