The United States is fast becoming
a nation of appendicitis victims.
This' was the assertion recently of
Dr. Jabez Jackson, prominent surgeon
and member of the American Medical
associatsion, during a discussion re—
garding abdominal surgcry.
“According lo the present, stuffs-
tics," declared Dr: Jackson. “it will
only be a few years until every one
in the country is affected 111th appcn‘
dicitis and is forced to undergo an
operation in order to prevent death."
As a practicing physician and sur-
geon in New York and the south for
a number of years. Dr. Jackson had
made a. specialty of abdominal sur-
gery and has performed a great num-
ber of appendicitis operations-more
than any other surgeon in the coun-
try. some say.

some of the causes attributed by Dr.
Jackson for the rapid spread of 11p-
pcndicitis.
"The whole question devolves itself
into one of whether We are not ex-
ceeding the speed limit of living." he
said. I. for one believe that we are.

termined that we are living too high.
And that is one of the greatest causes
of appendicitis. the malady which is
bound to grip everybody in this coun-
try if the couditions and circumstances
are not changed.
