is alleged, so many bogug paintings
have been imposed.
"He‘s awfully angry." said the art
dealer, repressing a smil “Some of
his costliest pictures, you now. have
been declared fakes. His blood boils
when he thinks of the way he has been
duped. ,
"He told me thelother day that he
could hardly understand the rage that
possessed him against every petty, lit-
tle, insignificant dealer that had cheat-
ed him. He said it was like the rage
of a waiter that he had noted one af-
ternoon at luncheon.
"At luncheon. Mr. Evans said. he
called his waiter’s attention to a dead
fly in some dish or other.
“The waiter. as he took the dish
away. mutteredwith a malevolent look

The funeral of Mason B. Merrill was
held yesterday afternoon at 2 O‘clock

very impressive. were conducted by
the Rev. F. D. Torrey, pastor of the
Norwalk Methodist Church. A large
number of friends of the deceased was
in attendance. and there wore many
handsome floral tributes. Mr. Merrill
was a popular member of the Free
Masons, Odd FOIIOWs and American
Mechanics. and two members of each
of these orders acted as pail bearers.
