Stamford. After the bake, Mr. St.
John, who is ill his eighty-seventh
year, sang one of his old time songs.
and carried the time filler all the way
through. This Was enjoyed very
much by all. He then invited all to
gather around onhis front porch, he
being seated in a chair that is 0 or
two hundred years old. Then afier
telling a few stories and giving a lit-
tle fatherly advice to all be disposed
of a roll of bills, making each a pres-
ent of a nice little sum of money. Mr.
St. John is always very liberal, and en.
joys having the young folks with him.
but the giving of the money was a
great surprise to all, and each thank-
ed him with a kiss. and wished that
he might live to reach the one hun«
dred year mark. The bake and party
was greatly enjoyed by all. especially
Mr: St. John, who said it was the
grandest time be ever had. Among
those present were Lester St John
