curred on a launch owned by Henry
Welsman. Some gasoline that had
leaked in the bottom of the craft took
fire. as near as could be figured out.

went to the assistance of the owner of
the craft and poured several buckets
of water on the flames. but without
mtrch result. For a time it looked as
if the little craft would be destroyed.
Welsman started to row off, and
Knapp, fearing that the gasoline tank
would. explode Jumped overbo .and
swam' ashore. An alarm w given
rhout the neighborhood and the tire
ltrnrper in First street was gotten otrt.
l‘his soon drowned out the flames. The
damage to ‘the boat was only slight.
The report, when the flames first broke
