of Howard R. Waterbury, clerk of the
Board of Assessors, yesterday after-
noon, In the middle ofLong island
Sound. With a- gasoline tire raging
aboard his auxiliary bout Mid, and the
big gasoline tanks ready to blow up
at any moment: Waterbury stuck to
the built. and, by abusing the tank and
the wood work around it with water,

.of gasoline, and then he bundled the
party Into a ten foot skiff telling his
father to row aviary with all strength

ed the danger of, the. explosion, and
thought to save the others from injury
