As was told in The Bentihel several
weeks ago. a thief was caught in New
Jersey who answers to the descrip
tion of the man who stole the outfit
of Thomas E. Gregory from leases
place. That man is now in Sing Sing
prison awaiting trial. Yesterday Cap-
tain Hunt visited the prison. and had
a talk with this man. but he was foxy.
and refused to disclose a thing. one
way or .the other. Captain Hunt is
pretty certain to his own mind that
it is the same man.
Through the efforts of Captain Hunt
an owner has been found for the
horses which were found in Barry‘s
livery stables in Winnlpsuk some time
ago.
Mr. Kline. of Long island. was the
owner of the two horses. but not'of
the trucks which were found with
them. He had six fine horses stolen
from his stables that night. and these
are the first two that he has been
able to locate. He came to Norwalk
yesterday afternoon. in company with
Detective William J. Conway. of the
detective headquarters of Brooklyn.
and the animals were identified and
were shipped to New York on the
boat last night.
Mr. Bailey, of the Locating Bureau.
of Graham avenue. Brooklyn. has
found where one of the trucks was tak-
en. and Detective Conway will come
to Nor-walk in a few days and return
the truck to its owner.
There are without doubt several
other matters known to Captain Hunt
which he is not ready to sclose. and
this is enough to mow at the Nor-
wslk police. force is “there with the
, Captain Hunt is in touch with the
detective bureaus of the metropolis
and has received a bulletin sent out
by the United States Locating liureau
of Graham avenue, Brooklyn. A light
bay horse and surrey were hired from
a livery stable in Richmond Hill May
