bell has an interesting history. Forty
years or more one it hung in the bet-
fry of the Unitarian church, which

bears the name of the maker. Over
one hundred years aim the bell hung
in the lft‘lfry of Trinity church at Fair-
ficld, which was then located at Mill
Plain. The latter church was then
maintained partially by Trinity church
of New York. of which parish all of
the Connecticutterritory as far as
Strntford was originally a part. Trin-
ity parish was then as now the richest
‘itsuopnl parish in the country. and

they fell into financial straits. When
the new church was built for Trinity
parish of Soutiiport an'd‘the old build!
ing abandoned, the bell was taken to
\Vestport.
