disturbance over Lake Michigan.
These mas are producing cloudy
weather with local showers in all sec-
tions east of the Rocky Mountains ex-

cept along the Gulf and South Atlantic
costs and New England. The tempera-
ture ls below zero In the extreme
northwestern sections. Conditions in-
vor for this vicinity unsettled weather
with local showers and not much

These wells yielded from one to
sixty barrels Moll per day. the aver-

field has never had a great gusbcr and
has never been a heavy producer in
any sense of the Word. In 1889 and
practically in 1800 oil was worth nine.

cost of production from the surf wells
Is said to range from twenty-five to
thirtyvlive cents per barrel.

Development continued up to 1903.
since which time development of the
sea field has been practically at a
standstill, the wells In the territory
being pumped, but no new ones put
down. At the present time there are
about lilo wells producing from the
surf of the «lib which have been drill-
ed since the lleld was discovered.
Fourteen companies are operating In
the Sumnlerfleld district at this writ-
