The many friends of Smith Petty
were grieved to learn of his death
which occurred yesterday at tiallots'
Snug Harbor, at Starch island. Mr.
Petty, who was eighty six years of age,
has not been in the best of health for

agree with the view of a man who has
been writing a great deal on the sub
loci of oysters recently in a New York
