James Keeley. the first prisoner in
the criminal superior court whose
case went before a jury. was found
guilty. Kecler. who is lsvyears old.
revealed a proficiency in modern
stuet language. He was charged
with statutory burglary of breaking
into the shoe repairing shop of D, H.
Belleruse, of 778 State street, Bridge-
port, on the night of December 2 last.

that was unmated. The evidence show-
on that the window of the shop had
been broken, and that. the shoes had
been taken. Keeler was arrested for
the burglary.
He admitted to Captain Arnold and
Detective Hackett that he was guilty
with one Gaffney. who has since
