The fire, which was one of the worst
which has occurred in this village in
many years. started at about 1 o'clock
yesterday morning in the behavioural-

Without waiting to dress she started
to rouse the other members of the
family and although she hurried from
room to room with the utmost. speed,

ture was alive from ‘ccliar to attic.‘
No opportunity was given by the
‘ fire, for saving any article of clothing
or any furniture. Mrs. 'Biomberg had
in her bed room the sum of $400 in
hills which she had drawn from the
bank a short timelago. but the smoke
' whiclrrouscd her was so dense and
‘ the spread of the fire sorapid that the
money had to be left and was totally
destroyed. The same fate met all the
furniture and other articles in the
house as well as the house itself.
Neighbors who siiw Ibo dailies llur-
ried to give assistance. but little could
, be done. By the time help arrived the,
house was beyond any hope of: sav-
ing and the flames and flyingr sparks
had set. fire to the barn. which .was
about 100 feet from the 'lIOlltie. Eire
cows were saved from the barn be-
fore the rescuers were driven away,
but. efforts to save the two horses in
the structure were unavaillug. A large
quantity of grain and hay and many
farming implements wurc ticslroyed.

once, having started. followed the
chimney to the roof and then spread
to other parts of' the bousc in such a
