Stamford Widow of Wealthy Leather
Merchant Makes Small Bequest.
STAMFORD, Oct 29.~—The will of
Mrs. Susan E. Hoyt, widow of Joseph
B. Hoyt, a wealthy New York leather
merchant, was admitted to probate
here yesterday. Mrs, Hoyt died last
August at. Newton Center, Mass, leav-
ing an estate which she held in her
own right valued at $60,000. Bequests
ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 are
made to relatives and a fund which
will eventually become $20,000 is left
to the Stamford hospital for the pur-
pose of providing free books.
The sum of $15,000 is left to the
Young Men’s Christian association to
be devoted, if practicable, to the
maintenance or extension of rescue ——*
work among ilrc destitute and (icgrad
cd classes of the city of Stamford. The
home for mlssionarles' children at
Newton Center, Mass, is bequeathed
$2,000. and a niece, Miss Edwina I’opo
