ferring to those of our community. The
question Is 11 good one, and thinking
it would be very much in accorditnce
with the minds of the many readers
of your valuable paper to know I de-
siro in answer to make u more general
statement.
There are three hundred and more
colored people of Not-wall; and vicini-
ty. These us a class are very much
unlike the “decorated fool” who like
the lily, neither toil nor spin and tits-
dalu the soiled garments of industry.
This number is being continually In-
creased by good and temperate men
who come tip from the South to work
at the oyster business. Religious, so-
cial and moral progress are eagerly
grasped by them with a strong band
and Christian work Is wcil establish-
cd in two churches, the Grace Baptist
and the Knight Street A. M. E. Church
the latter the oldest. having been
founded forty yours ago. They are
makings great sacrifice to further the
cause and although straitened in
means are doing hard and noble work.
