The run on the Trust Company of
America was continued this morning.
As early as 6 o'clock. a little knot of
persons had gathered in front of the
company's main banking . house in
«Wall Street, and by 8 o’clock their
number had been augmented until
about 160 were in line. At the com-
pany’s branch at Broadway and Ann
street, formerly the Colonial Trust
Company, there ware fifty or seventy-
five persons in line at 8 o'clock.
As is always the case in time of
financial excitement, New York bank-
ers and brokers were at their desks
early this morning waiting for the Lon-
don quotatious on American stocks.
The Hamilton Bank in West 126th
street, suspended payment to deposi-
tors today. A notice posted on the
doors of the bunk this morning an»
pounced that the bank was solvent.
but in justice to depositors, payment
_ had been suspended until public confi~
