ten, of the New York, New Haven and
Hartford Railroad, in which he says
that the widening of the approach to
the South Norwalk enst bound railroad
station at Monroe street, has been
placed in the hands of the engineer-
ing department with instructions to
proceed with the widening of the ap-
proach
The letter says that it is impossible
to state when the work will be com-
pleted, howover, on account of other
work ahead of it.
The Merchants' and Manufacturers'
cure the widening of the Meadow
street bridge, near the power house.
This is conceded to be a very danger-
ous place and this summer there have
been several narrow escapes from an-
cidents with automobiles crashing into
trolley cars.

walk Quartettc Club was held yester-
day afternoon and evening in Fried-
rlch's grove. Clinton avenue. There.
was a large attendance of members
and friends of the organization. and a
good time was indulged in. The day
was perfect for outdoor pastimes and
the occasion was made the most-of.
About. 100 were present. and the time
was spent in some excellent vocal mu
sic. pleasant. games for children. and
the serving of an abundance 0f refresh
uients. President Gustav Friedrich
was ably assisted by his fellow mom
bars in the conduct of the affair. which

ever held at this ideal. spot.
ENGINE OFF THE TRACKS.
