Professor Fowler’s Feat Witnesseci by

Prof. Fowler made two thrilling bal;
loon ascensions yesterday afternoon
and evening. In the afternoon he
went to a height of several thousand
feet and dropped off. After coming
about half way down, he cut loose from
the parachute and made the remainder
of the drop ill a second parachute
which he had with him. lie landed
in a clump of bushes not far from Boll
island. The evening usccnt was made
at 7:30 and the professor landed near
Hickory Bluff.

tors of the Southern'Paciilc Company
today declared a quarterly dividend of
1% per cent. on the company's com-
mon stock. This is an increase of '/4
of l per cent, and if continued will
