opera riot, Monday, but there was
noise enough for a couple of riots, and
there will be arrests made in a day or
two as a result of the affair.
It was all over the fruit business.
Fruit businesses are rather annoying
this worm weather and enough fruit
decays and is spoiled to make consid-
erable worry in a fruit dealer’s mind,
to say nothing of brisk business com-
petition and cut rates.
Taking advantage of the “silly sea-
son." Susie Cinderella. who apparent-
ly had her fighting slippers on, and
Jennie Gisolii, who is Susie's bosom
companion and fighting partner, had a.
row with'Minnle Lubriuo and Mrs.
Harold Manzl The two factions, if
they may be so called, have been on-
gaging In brisk competition in the
fruit business.
Monday something was said that
proved to be a casus lrelll and as a re-
sult Susie Cinderella spat in Minnie
Lubrlno‘s face.
This being contrary to good social
uses and slightly annoying, showing
as it does that. the polite conVentions
have been ignored, diplomatic rela-
tions became strained, finally lrroken,
and Minnie and Mrs. Hamid Mantel
declared war On the instant.
A hand to hand skirmish resulted in
the shape 01’ a frontal attack made by
the Lubrino forces.
The Cinderella forces, finding that
they were too far from their basic of
supplies retreated in good order. with
only the loss of a few hairpins, to a
fine siruiegical point. at which they
made a determined stand.
This strateglcnl position was caps-
ble of being defended yesolutely for u

flank and rear attack and the position
