The per capita circulation of money
in the United States is at a very high
mark. 011 June 1 it reached the great
est amount ever attained in the his-
tory of the country. On that (late, the
per capita circulation of money in the
United States was $34.20, which is the

crease of 4 cents during the month
of May. 1907. The per cupltn on June

of 85,965,000 persons. On June I of
last year it was $32.45, and on Jun-
uary I, 1907, it reached $33.78.
At Atlantic City on June 5th a meet-
ing was called of the international
Medical Association for the purpose of
organizing an American section of the
association. The call was made. by
the delegates attending the convention
of the American Tuberculosis'licaguc
which was held In that city. The. call
was signed by Dr. William B. Z. Snow.
of New York, president of the Amcrl
can League, and Dr. George Brown.

try. Dr. J. A. Reviere, of Paris, is the
honorable president. The sessions of
the Anti-tuberculosis league were held

which were discussed,
Senator Beverage has stirred up a
pretty mess through his declaration
that cowardice was displayed by army
officers in the Philippines. Apropos of
the unveiling at Indianapolis on Decor-
ation Day of the monument to General
Lawton, the junior senator from in-
diana published an interview of some
personal impressions of General Law-
ton on the fighting line. This inter
view appeared some weeks ago and in
it Senator Beverage described an ofii-
cer of General Lawton' a staff as being
badly frightened at the taking of Toy-
toy and skuiking in the line with teeth
chattering until Beveridge ‘felt sorry
for him. " Senator Beverodge was not
popular on his trip of inspection in the
Philippines and was known to the
army as "Senator Balloon." The 001

to a United States senator. but so
much bad feeling was stirred up by
the charges of Mr Beverldge that it is

OXFORD DECLINES CHALLENGE.

cially announced at Yale that a let-
ter received a few days ago from 0x-
ford University stated that the chal-
lcnge of the American universities
(Yale and Harvard) for dual games
would not be accepted. The letter
says that the athletes in both English
universities are very keen on the idea
of international sports and are much
disappointed that there Is a failure to
have a. meeting this year. but they
hope that by spring next year, before
the Olyhpiau games in London, the
men of the four universities may meet
and later also meet in the London gam-
