Mr. Spooner Wonders Why the Wine
List is Suspended in New York
and Not in This State.

II. II. Spooner. of Kensington. who
is active in the effort which Is being
made In the general assmnbly by ad-
vocales of the temperance cause to
secure temperance legislation, tells of
an observation made by him while
returning from 11 trip to New Y,ork
recently. Mr. Spoouer was in t edin-
lug car, and while waiting to be
served. he noticed 11. sentence at the
end of the wine list on the menu,
“No liquors served In the state of New
York."
Mr. Spooner said he fell to wonder-
lug why nothing was said about Con-
necticut. The waiters served no
liquors until the train passed Green-
wich. Then Mr. Spooner. who was
waiting for developments. saw fifteen
orders served Immediately.
Mr. Spooner says that the question]
In his mind Is, Why is the wine list on
the trains suspended in New York
and not suspended I11 Connecticut?
