Johnatown Men Expected to Recover
After 100 Houn' imprisonment.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa, May l.—'l‘aken
from the dark recesses of a coal mine
where they had been imprisoned for
over 100 hours, and snatched from
the jaws of death. the seven men taken
from the Berw-lnd White Mine No. 38,
at Foustwell are lying in the Wind-
ber Hospital, physically exhausted and
oblivious to all about them, and re-
covering thelr strength in sleep The
men were reached about 10 o’clock
last night. but were not brought out
until early this morning. the physio
ians fearing a. reaction from the ex’
cttament and sudden exposure to the
outer air.
All the men wanted to go to their
homes and. were taken to the hospital
under protest. No food was given them
at first but a stimulant in the form
of brandy and water was administered
to all with the exception of Michael
Bolya, who craved hot milk. This was
not given him. however.
Soon after arriving at the hospital
the men were sound asleep. No com-
munication is allowed With them, 80
they were unable to recount their ex-
periences to reporters.
The hospital physicians said today
thatthe men would be able to be
