I sincerely hope that last night's ar-
ticle in regard to the high school
hasn’t come too late, for In the minds
0! many citizens of the town. it would
be a great mistake to build the kind
a! a high school shown by the plans
and specifications on the site selected,
at,this time. and this. too. in view of
the town's present awful Iinancial con-
dition. To start with. the plans do not
show the kind of a high school that
would be a credit to the town: the lack
of a'gymnasinm, the limited seating
capacity and the cramped accommoda-
tions generally, are all against it. And
why do the specifications partlcularize
as to the different brands or makes of
mutt-rials to be used? It is a notorious
fact that certain supply houses (espec-
ially plumbers) pay at commission to
the architect on every dollar‘s worth of
their goods specified. This is prob.
ably not the reason for specifying par-
ticular brands in the present instance,
but it is, hardly fair to other concerns,
and besides does not give the town the
benefit of" competitive bids. if we will
not be proud of the building, will we be
pleased with the site of our $100,000

having an opportunity to pass upon the
whole matter in its present shape. By
all means let us have a town meeting
and let the voters have their say be-
fore it is too late.
