present considering the appropriation
bill for the postal service, as reported
by the subcommittee who had it in
charge. The section relating to
clerks is as follows:
“That hereafter clerks in emces of
the first and second class shall be di-
vided ‘into seven grades, as follows:
First grade. salary 3600; second grade,
sslar 8700; third grade salary 3800;
icon grade. salary 89 ; fifth grade.
salary $1,000; sixth grade. salary 81.-
‘ 100; seventh grade. salary 81,200. That
