Leroy Butler. the colored youth ’of
., Stamford, who has twice been tried for
murder in theflrst degree in the crim
inai superior court. in each case the
jury disagreeing, was yesterday raises

was taken. but no surety was required,
which is virtually allowing Butler in

Butler was charged with killing his.
stepmother in Stamford after a wordy
war. He was alleged to have threat-
ened to’klll her and there was some
evidence which might have been con
aimed to point to him, but the jury In
two instances evidently did not c n-
sider it enough to convict. Butler
served considerable time In jail be-
tween trials and will no doubt welcome
the Christmas gift of his liberty.

a “poker joint" and arrested the pro-

Under the original plans it was esti-
mated that the building could he erect-
ed for 867.500. but the bids which came
in afterward were much higher on ac
count. of the raise in the price of la-
bor and material.
The members of the committee who
were asked about the meeting referred
the reporter to Secretary A. Blanchard.
When interviewed Mr. Blanchard
spoke as follows:
"Isn't it true that there have been
differences between Architect Potter
and the building committee?" asked
reporter.
"I wouldnt say that. Of corrrse
there have been little differences all
the reporter.
"Hasn‘t Mr, Potter refused to make

Two Weeks. Returned in. His

NEW YORK. Dec. 22.—Georgle
Brucate, the four year old boy who
was kidnapped two weeks ago. was
picked up in the street today in
Brooklyn by a policeman and taken
in the rooms of the Children's Soc-
iety. Word was sent at once to the
home of the boy's parents and within
an hour he was in the arms of his
mother. who had become seriously in
us a result of worry over thesmleslng
child.
The boy could tell nothing about
his experiences since his disappear
once two weeks ago. He had been
well cared for. however. and when.
found. he wore in addition to the
clothes which he had on when last
seen by his parents. a big warm shawl.
The police believe that the boy,
whose parents are in poor circumst
ances, was stolen by one of the gangs
of blackmslilng desperadoes who have
been killing well to do Italians in the
east side of the city. with the expec-
tation that their efforts to collect
blackmail would be made salty If they
could show some of the more prosper-
, one of their countrymen how easy
It was to perpetrate a crime of this
kind and how helpless the police
would be in the detection of the crime.
