wife that he might be free to marry
another, was outlined by the public
prosecutor when the murder trial was
resumed today. The whole of the
first day was consumed in securing u

nurse was called in to attend
M'rs, Brouwer, and Dr, Brouwer, the
'proseeutor said, gave the n rse some-
thing which he said was me cine with
instructions to administer If. He then
went to Lake Hurst. Mrs. Drouwer
became worse and another physician
was called In under whose euro she
partly recovered.

Brown said Mrs. Brouwor was again
taken ill and showed symptoms of pois-
oning. At that time a. nurse was at-
tendlug the patient In the day and Dr.
Brouwur in the night. The doctor re-
lieved the nurse nt 9 p. in. Sunday, and
Mrs. DrouWer died in great agony at
4 o‘clock the next. morning.
The autopsy, the prosecutor said,
showed no natural cause for her death.
The vital organs were then submitted
to Prof. (lentil, of Philadelphia. and on
his report and on that of the physician
who held the autopsy. Dr. Brouwer
was indicted. ‘
A neighbor who was present when
Mrs. Brouwer died atul an undertaker
who exhumed her hotly were the first
witnesses. '
