most curious buildings in this vicinity
and one that has attracted much at
tentlon is now being demolished. The
building is‘vthe store of George Aviary.
at Crosslllver. N. Y... a few lies
from thistowu on the road to Katonah.
The Avery store had a secret and dur-
ing~a period of over forty years no
body has been able to solve It. New
that the building is down and the
savanna old stock of goods is scattered

pays his daily visit to the village

sip but he has never yet revealed the

company are continually condemning

water supply and only a few years ago
the old village or Katonah was con-
demncii and the town had to move
away to another site. The. ground
where the Avery store stood has been
secured by the New York City Water
commission and there was no other
way but to tear down the old Avery
building and make way for modern
improvements.
A month ago the goods in the store
were taken out. and auctioned off to
the villagers. People came from miles
to see the auction and get a souvenir

John J. Walsh maintained that he had
clearly shown that there was not the
least ground for a charge of intent to
murder and asked the Judge point.

convinced what he should do but in
order to give the prisoner every
