prevented a catastrophe on the road
between Stamford and Darien As he
was driving on the main road he ob-
served a box falling from a wagon
some distance ahead. When he reach-
ed the spot,l1e left his cairlagc and
found that the box was full of dyns
mite. It had fallen between the wheel
of the wagon and seven sticks of the
100 contained in the box had been bio
ken by the wheels. It is a wonder
it did not explode, in which event
there would be a different story to
1111]. Mr. McNaily gathered up the dy
namite carefully and placed it at the
side of the road. Some people coming
that way in automobiles saw the stamp
on the box. and halted until the explo-
sive was out of the way After it had
been removed, the wagon from which
it had fallen returned and the driver
claimed it. Mr. McNtilly got into his
wagon hastily and drove away.
