ST. PETERSBURG. Feb. 9.-—A num-
ber of naval officers, according to a
dispatch to the Slave from Sdbastopoi,
has been transferred to the Far East
for petitioning the marine ministry
for an open trial of former Lieutenant
Schmidt (who commanded the cruiser
Oichakoff. which mounted in Novem-
ber last at Sebastopoi and was subse-
quently sunk by the loyal ships) and
for satisfaction of the service demands
which were one of the main causes of
the mutiny of sailors belonging to the
Blimk Sea fleet.
The trial of Schmidt has been post;
poneti because it is thought to be has-
ardous to transfer him from the for-
tress of ()tchakoff incur Odessa).
where he is confined. to the naval
headquarters at Schastopoi.
Mutiny Is still smouldering on board
several vessels of the Black Sea fleet
notably on the battleship Catherine
