Henry Mend Padded Away Sunday at
His Home in Titlcua.
l-lenry Mead. aged seventy-seven.
died Sunday at his home. in 'I‘iticus.
Mr. Mead was born In the house now
occupied by James Pendar in Maiden
Lane, and was the oldest son of Sher
wood Mead. In early life he followwl
the shoemhker'a trade. About forty
years ago he married Miss Caroline
Banker. of Peekskill. Some thirty or
more years Iago Mr Mead opened It
grocery store in the building formerly
occupied by Clarke's furniture store
and now used by H. K. Scott, .II'.. as
It carriage emporium and office. He
also owned both the building and the
house on the corner of Main and (‘u-
ioonuh streets. where he and his falli-
ily resided. Mr. Mend continued the
grocery business until a. few years ago.
when the property was purchased by
ll. K. Scott. .lr. Mr. Mead then re-
moved ,Io 'l‘lticutn where he. had since
resided.
in younger days Mr. Mead was an
occasional contributor to the Ridge
field Prints and many of his articles ap-
peared from time to time. He was an
